Day 38, July 30: Zealand Falls

In the middle of the rugged and steep White Mountains it is impossible to find any 8 miles of trail that is easy.  Except..for the hike I did today!  Words cannot describe the pleasurable 7.7 miles from Crawford Notch to Zealand Falls and the hut there.  It was so good the light rain showers were barely noticeable.  My arrival at 2 pm made the day feel like NERO (nearly a zero day).

Too easy today!

See my current location and daily log of my progress on the trail.

A fun fact about the Zealand Falls Hut: Most of the electric power is generated by a hydro generator located upstream from Zealand Falls.  My bunk is more like a privately loft…with a view. It will be back to tenting soon!

Today: 7.7 miles, total 353.1. Vermont is 89 miles away…not that I am counting!

And the third bunk up the ladder.

  1. A guy never seems to catch a break! First, he climbs boulders all day….., then, he has to climb into bed! Oh, well……, hike on hiker!
